Giving by CafeGive provides easy ways for merchants, corporations and nonprofits to conduct promotions and fundraise on the internet and in social media. Participation in this promotion is subject to the following terms of service:
CafeGive is a for profit company that has partnered with FJC to form the CafeGive Charitable Giving Fund (“The Fund”). FJC is a 501(c)3 foundation of donor advised funds in place to receive donations and distribute funds to other 501(c)3 nonprofits. Contributions in this promotion are not refundable and, once made, are owned by FJC which has exclusive legal control over all contributed assets. CafeGive is the advisor of The Fund and as such, advises FJC to distribute a donations received by The Fund to the nonprofits designated by the original donors.
Donors will receive a tax deductible receipt for their donation, acknowledging the cause they selected to receive their donation. All payments are final. Donations are made to a 501(c)3 tax exempt organization and are tax deductible to the amount provided by law. In some promotions, individuals receive merchandise with this donation.
CafeGive shares the individuals name, email address and mailing address with participating merchants when required and with the nonprofit the individual selected. Individuals may select to not have this information shared with these organizations.
A transaction fee of 4.2% plus $0.30 per donation will be deducted from the donation amount for credit card processing and fund administration. The goal of this program is to raise money for great causes and CafeGive does not receive any portion of the transaction.
Is my donation tax deductible?
Yes! Donations are made to a tax exempt 501(c)3 organization, and as such, are tax deductible to the amount allowed by law. Donors may receive merchandise of equivalent value for some promotions.
When will I receive my merchandise?
Most merchandise will be mailed or emailed to you within 14 days. For this promotion, whippersnappers studio will email e-gift certificates to email address provided at time of donation.
Why is there a fee?
We have worked hard to make sure this fee is as little as possible. As with all credit card transactions, there is a fee to process your credit card. In addition, there is a small administration fee to pay for the collection, management of and distribution of funds in compliance with all laws that regulate donations. The goal of this program is to raise money for great causes and CafeGive does not receive a portion of the transaction!
What is a Donor Advised Fund (DAF)?
This might sounds a little technical but it is all in place to protect donor and their donations! A donor advised fund (DAF) is a charitable giving vehicle sponsored by a public charity. The DAF makes grants to the 501(c)(3) organizations based upon donor recommendation. There are three characteristics of a DAF:
- Donors are separately identified with reference to the contribution.
- The fund is owned and controlled by a sponsoring organization.
- The donor must have the privilege of providing advice with respect to the fund’s distributions.
CafeGive has established a Charitable Giving Fund (DAF) through FJC. FJC is the public charity that we have selected to be our sponsoring organization.
Who is FJC?
FJC is a 501(c)3 public charity that provides total management of charitable giving. Its mission is to increase and maximize the impact of charitable dollars by creating customized philanthropic solutions. They have established over 1000 donor advised fund accounts and distributed over $100 million in grants to charities around the world. Why does my credit card receipt say "Paypal *CAFEGIVEFJC" instead of the cause that I selected?
Your donation was made to the CafeGive Charitable Giving Fund through FJC, a nonprofit. FJC, in turn, distributes your donation, along with all others that participated in this promotion to the causes selected. It might surprise you but this is how many donations are managed for nonprofits. It allows them to focus on the their important work without having to manage the accounting and receipts for multiple donations.
Can I get my payment back?
All payments are final upon processing of credit card.
Who gets to see my information?
Your personal information is yours alone and protecting your privacy is very important to us. Please visit our privacy policy for more information. As part of some promotions, we do share your information (name, email and mailing address) with the sponsoring merchant so that they can mail or email you merchandise, and with the nonprofit so that they can acknowledge your gift. During the payment process, you may choose to not share your information with either of these organizations.
When will my cause receive my donation?
It is our intention, to make distributions soon after the completion of each promotion. Your cause will receive your donation within 30 days of the completion of the promotion.
