Solar HOPE
Welcome to the Solar HOPE Cafe Give page! We appreciate your support as we work to provide light, power, and HOPE to the developing world by installing small-scale solar power system in rural areas. Solar HOPE currently works in in Tanzania where our goal to deliver 1MW of solar power to people in need in the next 5 years. This is an extremely ambitious goal considering that the power capacity for the whole country of Tanzania is currently just bellow 1GW. Using a simplified calculation and estimating that an average facility such as school or hospital has 250 W power requirements, the goal of Solar HOPE is therefore to provide electricity for approximately 3,000 schools, hospitals and orphanages. We believe that this goal, although ambitious, can be met through partnerships with universities and businesses here and abroad, as well as the use of locally trained installers. Thanks to ongoing donations of solar panels from a national test laboratory in Arizona, we have a steady supply of panels. However, there is still a need for additional components as well as travel and installation costs. That is where your purchases on Cafe Give can really help!
