Second Harvest Food Bank
Thank you for visiting our page at CafeGive! We are excited to have you join us in supporting our innovative programs that are working toward the goal of ending hunger. By shopping with CafeGive and sharing widgets, you can become a valued part of the determined and passionate people working to help Second Harvest Food Bank to help us increase the quantity of food we distribute during these tough economic times.
Our work would not be possible without community support. We rely on our advocates not only for donations and volunteerism, but also for rallying friends, family and colleagues to do what is in their power to make sure none of our neighbors go hungry. Every dollar that is generated provides two nutritious meals, so just think of what your shopping can help achieve. Thank you for helping us feed hungry families in our community.

Second Harvest Food Bank

Second Harvest Food Bank is the primary source of donated, surplus, and purchased food for nonprofit agencies in Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties.
In fiscal year 08-09 (July '08 - June '09), we distributed over 39.1 million pounds of nutritious food to low-income people in need in every zip code of our service area from Daly City to Gilroy, and from the ocean to the bay. This is a 13% increase over last year.
We provide food efficiently through our direct service programs (see Food Bank Programs below) and by collaborating with a network of 316 partner nonprofit agencies operating 445 programs at 834 different food distribution sites. Partner agencies include shelters, pantries, soup kitchens, children's programs, senior meal sites, and residential programs.
In fiscal year 08-09, volunteers contributed approximately 261,102 hours of service, which is equivalent to 126 full-time employees.
