Girl Scouts of Oregon and Southwest Washington
Welcome to our CafeGive page. We are thrilled to have this opportunity to tell you about our organization and hope you will promote this website to your friends. Through your purchases, girls can realize their dreams and become tomorrow's leaders. Thank you in advance for your support!—Judy Lawrence, VP Development and Communications
Every opportunity in Girl Scouting, from earning badges to travel, encourages girls toward our mission of building girls of courage, confidence, and character who make the world a better place. Girl Scouts of Oregon and Southwest Washington serves 18,596 girls in 37 counties. These girls are supported by 80 full-time staff and almost 11,000 volunteers committed to helping them reach our mission. Being volunteer-driven means that we can spend money where it counts — on the girls!
The focal point of the Girl Scout program is the Girl Scout Leadership Experience (GSLE)—the framework for defining what girls do in Girl Scouting. Programs engage girls in three key activities: discovering who they are and what they value; connecting with others; and taking action to make the world a better place. To ensure a high-quality and fun experience, Girl Scout activities use three processes: girl-led; learning-by-doing; and cooperative-learning. Our success is demonstrated by the fact that Girl Scout alumnae make up 80 percent of female executives and business owners, as well as two-thirds of women serving in the U.S. Congress.
Our organization values diversity and inclusiveness and does not discriminate on any basis. Last year, we provided $110,187 in financial assistance to ensure everyone could participate in Girl Scouting. Learn more at www.girlscoutsosw.org.
