The Children's Heart Foundation

Thank you for visiting The Children's Heart Foundation's page of CafeGive. It is only through the continued commitment and generosity of our dedicated donors, families, volunteers and sponsors that we are able to fund life saving research. Thank you for joining us in our goal to bring health, hope and happiness to children and their families impacted by congenital heart defects.

The Children's Heart Foundation

The Children's Heart Foundation (CHF) is a 501 ©3 tax-exempt charitable organization. While under the direction of our Medical Advisory Board and because CHF is not affiliated with any one medical institution or organization, research funds can be allocated to the finest research worldwide.

The Children's Heart Foundation

The mission of CHF is to fund the most promising research to advance the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of congenital heart defects. No other national organization, including the American Heart Association, has congenital heart defect research as its primary focus.

To date, CHF has funded 37 research projects to 24 institutions at $3.4 million. More than30 leading international pediatric cardiologists and cardiothoracic surgeons comprise CHF's Medical Advisory Board that oversees the research grant funding process.

The Children's Heart Foundation will support new research and accelerate the pace of critical research waiting for funding in the following areas:

  • Molecular genetics / biochemistry
  • Devises / procedural research (catheterization and surgical)
  • Long term care of children as they become adults

It is our top priority to connect the mosey that we raise to the research that will make an impact on children born with a congenital heart defect. Money raised in any one calendar year funds research that same year.

Did you know...

  • Congenital heart defects are America's #1 birth defect affecting nearly one out of every 100 births, or approximately 40,000 babies per year.
  • Congenital heart defects are responsible for one third of all birth defect related deaths, making CHD's the #1 cause of birth defect related deaths.
  • More than fifty percent of all children born with a CHD will require at least one invasive surgery in their lifetime. Many children and their families face multiple surgeries and daily medication throughout their lifetime.
